Top featherweight contender Tiger Smalls did not just want to win the fight, but he wanted to dominate it in grand fashion. Smalls did just that as he never let Anthony Martinez in the eight round fight, winning a unanimous decision in front of almost 2,000 at the Hilton Convention Center in Burbank, CA.

The bout headlined a five-bout "Path 4 Glory" card, presented by Cota's Boxing Promotion. In one of his better perfomances in the last four years, Smalls boxed well against a fighter who was game and tough, but not able to solve the puzzle that was Smalls.

Smalls used a strong, quick jab to stymie Martinez offense. Smalls would land hard right hands to the head of Martinez, Martinez was game, coming at Smalls to land meaningless hooks. But Smalls fought an intelligent fight, stinging Martinez with more jabs and landing effective combonations to the head and body.

Smalls would cotinuously frustrate Matinez, looking noticeabyly slower, Martinez would battle fatigue and Smalls, who stepped up his pace. Smalls continued to land sharp, and strong combinations as Martinez was not abble to solve the puzzle of Smalls.

All three judges scored the bout 80-72, Fightnews.com scored th bout the same.
